Carí Jackson Lewis

Carí Jackson Lewis is the Founder and Principal of California Philanthropic Consulting (CPC).  CPC partners with individuals and families, private foundations, businesses, and allied advisors to facilitate income, estate, and capital gains tax minimization and business exit/succession planning goals through both simple and sophisticated charitable giving vehicles; assists nonprofit staff in establishing and administering planned giving and legacy society programs, donor prospecting and stewardship programs; and uses diversity, equity and social justice lenses to create connections and build relationships between nonprofits - including and especially BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color)-led and BIPOC-serving nonprofit organizations - and donors in the private, public and philanthropic sectors. 

A nonprofit, tax, and philanthropy strategist and a seasoned trusts and estates lawyer with over 20 years of experience in estate, tax, and charitable gift planning across diverse international, and domestic settings, Carí is a Board Member of the Los Angeles Council of Charitable Gift Planners (LACGP), the Chair of LACGP's 2022 Western Regional Planned Giving Conference, and a Lay Leader and member of the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village Memorial Foundation.  Carí is also a member of Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy, the African American Development Officers Association, and the Association of Black Estate Planning Professionals, and she has served as a Board Member on a number of nonprofit community organizations.

Carí is a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving, an Accredited Estate Planner, a member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners, and is currently enrolled in and a co-moderator of the June 2021 Advisors of Color Study Group for the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) program offered by the American College of Financial Services. 

Carí earned her undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College, her Juris Doctor at Fordham University School of Law, and her LL.M. in Taxation (with distinction) from Loyola Law School (Los Angeles).
