Education:
- Loyola Marymount University (B.B.A., International Business Major;
Spanish Literature Minor, May 1993);
- Southwestern University School of Law (J.D., May 2001).
Carmen B. Marquez graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 1993
with a Bachelor in Business Administration (emphasis in International
Business) and a minor in Spanish Literature. After working several years
in the insurance industry Mrs. Marquez decided to attend law school
while continuing to work fulltime. Her experience in both the business
and legal sectors enable her to understand client's needs and help them
develop an Estate Plan that meets those needs.
Mrs. Marquez is proud of her Hispanic heritage and enjoys speaking
Spanish with other Latinos. At a very young age Mrs. Marquez' father
instilled in her the desire to attain a higher education and pursue her
dream of becoming an attorney. Mrs. Marquez father passed away when she
was nine years old and that made a big impact in her life. This
experience is one of the main reasons why she selected Estate Planning
as the area of law she now practices. She understands the importance of
having an estate plan and preparing for those unexpected events in life.
Mrs. Marquez started her legal career in Estate Planning at the Law
Offices of Mitchell A. Karasov a firm specializing in Elder Law. She
provided client's legal services in Estate Planning and Medi-Cal
Planning. This included creating Trusts, Wills, Durable Powers of
Attorney, and Advance Health Care Directives. She also prepared and
submitted client's Medi-Cal applications to the State Department of
Health Services after analyzing and reviewing Client's financial
position and developing a strategy to help the client meet the Medi-Cal
eligibility requirements, maintain eligibility and possibly prevent Medi-Cal
recovery.
Previous legal experience includes Business Law, Business Formation, and
Trademark Protection with the law firm of Sanchez & Amador, LLP and
Workers' Compensation Defense with the Law office of George M. Theofanis.
Mrs. Marquez also worked at the Ventura District Attorneys office as an
intern where she performed extensive legal research and drafted points
and authorities for Felony and Fraud cases.
Mrs. Marquez moved to the Conejo Valley in 1998 with her husband in
order to start a family. Her husband, daughter and son are her pride and
joy. She enjoys volunteering in the community and especially likes
working with seniors and children.
